Most repair shops either tell you what you want to hear or what gets them the most work. We set out to do neither.

How we got here

iPhone Repair Honpo began as a small side project in 2019, born out of genuine enthusiasm for electronics repair and a dissatisfaction with how most customers were being treated at phone repair shops.

The name comes from the Japanese word honpo (本舗), which loosely translates to "original establishment" or "main shop" — the idea being that this is a place you trust, not a faceless kiosk. We liked the idea of something that felt principled and craft-oriented, which is how we approach the work itself.

We opened our Glasgow workshop in 2020 on Cochrane Street, a ten-minute walk from the city centre. In the years since, we've repaired thousands of devices, built up a reliable supply of quality parts, and developed a workshop process that's straightforward to follow for both us and for customers.

We're a small team. That's deliberate. It means we know every repair that goes out the door, and we stand behind each one personally.

What we believe about repair work

Honesty matters more than a sale.
We would rather tell you a repair isn't worth doing than collect £80 for something that doesn't genuinely help you.
Diagnosis before prescription.
Every repair starts with an accurate assessment. Guessing wastes your time and your money.
Parts quality is not optional.
Cheap parts fail quickly and cost more in the long run. We only fit parts we're comfortable putting our warranty behind.
Clear communication, always.
You receive a written quote before any work starts. If something changes during the repair, we pause and discuss it with you first.

We've grown gradually and deliberately — adding capability and capacity only when we were confident it wouldn't compromise quality.

2019
The beginning
Started taking repair work from friends and family. Built up experience and sourced reliable part suppliers.
2020
Glasgow workshop opens
Opened our Cochrane Street location. Established our diagnostic workflow and began working with the public.
2021
Team expands
Brought on a second technician and a customer-facing team member as repair volume grew.
2022
Equipment upgrade
Invested in ultrasonic cleaning equipment and improved diagnostic tooling, expanding our capacity to handle liquid damage and board-level issues.
2025
Over 2,400 repairs completed
Continued to grow through word of mouth and a reputation for honest, straightforward service in Glasgow.

Written Quotes

Every quote is given in writing before work starts. There are no verbal agreements we don't put on paper.

90-Day Warranty

All repairs are covered for 90 days on parts and labour. If the same fault recurs, we investigate it without charge.

No Fix, No Fee

If we run a diagnostic and find the device isn't repairable, or if you decide not to proceed, there's no charge for the assessment.

Data Privacy

Repairs don't require access to your personal data. We never look at your content and we recommend backing up as standard practice.
